The author of the O nata lux de lumine text is unknown. It is an office hymn to be sung at Lauds of the Feast of Transfiguration which falls on 6 August. The story of the Transfiguration of Christ can be found in the Gospel of Matthew in the Christian New Testament (Matthew 17:1-9). Lauds of the Feast of Transfiguration is the Office of Aurora/Dawn.
