From Score: "First performed by the BBC Singers, the Arditti Quartet and members of Endymion Ensemble, directed by David Hill, at Cadogan Hall, London, on 4 September 2010"
Performing forces: SSATB, though approximately half of the work is SATB; soprano soloist (with much agility and accuracy) and ATB soloists (see below for discussion); percussion (one player only needed: vibraphone, glockenspiel, crotales, tubular bell, and tam-tam); and string quartet. This work is difficult, but has moments of repose and less demanding. Oxford University Press lists the scoring as SATB with no mention of a soprano solo. In reality, the work can utilize SATB soloists for all the more florid lines with SSATB choir entering throughout. The SoundCloud example reflects this division of forces.
